Marge's Sloppy Joes-crock pot version
Submitted by Marge Kobylinski on Mar 24, 2019

The spring fling sloppy Joes are always a hit so here's the recipe

Servings:
4

Complexity:
Very Easy

Total Time:
6 hrs

Ingredients:
1 onion (chopped)
1/2 c Ketchup
1/3 c water
1 tsp Chili Powder
1 tsp salt
1# lean hamburger or ground turkey
1 tsp prepared mustard (plain yellow, dijon or spicy)
splash of Worcestershire sauce, dash of tobasco sauce
warm buns

Directions:
brown meat and onions in skillet, add all other ingredients to small 2 qt crock-pot then add the browned meat/onions and stir well. Cook covered on low for 6+ hrs, the take cover off and cook another hour to thicken sauce a bit....****works great to feed a crowd, just double to quintuple recipe and increase crock-pot to 6 qt size....if you are just using a pound of ground meat and wish to have a quick and easy sloppy joe, after browning meat and onions, add the rest of the ingredients to the skillet/fry pan and simmer on the stove on low for 30 minutes or more. The longer the sloppy joes cook, the tastier. I like to add diced carrots, peppers, celery to added nutrients and sometimes use bottle of bbq sauce in place of some the ketchup when making a super large batch....so switch up ingredients to your tastebuds...there is no wrong way to make sloppy joes!

Cook's Notes:
I use up to 15# browned ground meat and proportionally increase the other ingredients to match, cook in several crockpots and then keep warm in a turkey roaster for serving at picnics...if slider buns used rather than regular buns, serves approximately 90-100 persons...
